Henry Westmoreland’s strategy hasn’t changed.

2020欧洲杯正规平台He wants to improve his golf game each day.

2020欧洲杯正规平台However, Westmoreland’s travel schedule has been impacted by the coronavirus outbreak that continues to spread globally. New cases of the virus were announced in Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington state, New York and Florida on Sunday.

2020欧洲杯正规平台Recently, the PGA Tour Series-China postponed a pair of qualifying tournaments and delayed the start of the now-shortened regular season amid growing concerns over the virus.

2020欧洲杯正规平台Westmoreland – a former Florida High golfer – played on that tour last season as a first-year professional.

“It was a lot of fun – met a lot of good guys who are good friends,” Westmoreland said. “It was a neat experience learning a new culture and seeing the different people in the different regions of China. I really enjoyed it."

Westmoreland, who lives in Pensacola, was scheduled to play in a qualifier in Thailand in late February. However, that event was postponed, along with the first four events of the regular season which was scheduled to begin in late March.

The tour is aiming to play the two qualifiers in late April or early May, with the regular season expected to begin in late May or early June.

2020欧洲杯正规平台Until the tour is cleared to start, Westmoreland is focusing on practice and competing in regional mini tour events and qualifiers.

He is determined to build on his first professional season in China, where his driving accuracy and putting skills were tested.

“Driving is normally my strong point, but the fairways over there are so narrow compared to what we play in the states,” Westmoreland said.

“I just can’t wail on the ball over there. Now that I know how the courses are set up, I can work on improving my driving accuracy. Overall, my putting went very well - much better than I putted in college. It saved my season.”

2020欧洲杯正规平台Many professional golfers take roundabout routes to reaching their ultimate dream – playing on the PGA Tour – and Westmoreland has embraced his new experiences. His father also caddied his professional event in China.

2020欧洲杯正规平台The setup for the PGA Tour Series-China is unique – golfers play two to three consecutive weeks, followed by two to three consecutive off weeks. During that time, Westmoreland returned  to Pensacola to practice. Relying on the financial support of family and friends, Westmoreland also often shared rides and accommodations with fellow competitors.

“My game is trending in the right direction,” said Westmoreland, who played college golf at West Florida, where he was part of three consecutive top-3 national finishes, including a 2018 national runner-up finish. Westmoreland also was the 2012 All-Big Bend Golfer of the Year as a junior.

“I just want to keep working on my game," Westmoreland said. "I am looking for some good finishes to boost my confidence.”

It’s also a waiting game for Westmoreland and others who are planning to play on PGA Tour Series-China.

2020欧洲杯正规平台Originally scheduled for 14 regular season events, the circuit now plans to play only 10 events this season. The top five finishers on the China Series’ Order of Merit still will earn access to the Korn Ferry Tour, the final rung on the ladder to the PGA Tour, for next season.

Greg Carlson, PGA Tour Series-China executive director, said tour officials are "still dealing with many unknowns related to the coronavirus, with new information coming in daily."
