Florida A&M University is suspending all university-related travel to China, South Korea, Italy, Iran and Japan, President Larry Robinson said in a message to the campus Sunday evening.

The suspension covers travel for students, faculty, administration and staff, effective immediately.

FAMU previously suspended all university-related travel to China.

On Friday, Florida State University President John Thrasher announced the university extended its travel ban to Japan, Iran and Italy, effective for all university and faculty-related trips.

FSU previously halted non-essential travel to China and South Korea, considering the latest news involving the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus that has spread to many countries.

“We will continue to monitor this outbreak and provide updates to the campus community as needed,” Robinson said. “There are no FAMU students or faculty currently studying or teaching in China, South Korea, Italy, Iran, and Japan. “

FAMU students and faculty involved in Study Abroad programs should contact the Office of International Education and Development (OIED) immediately for more information.

University-sponsored travel to countries with a CDC Warning Level 3 or a U.S. Department of State Advisory Level 3 or 4 will not be approved.
